Criterias for the Awareness Activity poster:

-The poster must base on Senior Citizens being sent to homes.
-Your job is to encourage people to take care of their elderly by themselves through the posters
-Include slogans
-The poster must be attractive and eye-catching.
-Do add some pictures in it.
-Everyone must put in their 100% effort~~~~ :D

And please remember, this is a class effort, so please be responsible.

this is the plan out for the two days we will be spending at dte

1st day - tuesday
you guys can start coming to chalet at 10 to 11
then breakfast will NOT BE PROVIDED
we will then go to pasir park/beach and spend the time there
then, lunch will be basically cup noodles and i need some ppl to bring nuggets/chickenwings
then, we can spend time playing ....
then for dinner we will be eating bbq

2nd day - wednesday
those who sleepover will eat breakfast which will be cereal, bread... etc
those who dont sleepover and come to the chalet again its up to you to eat breakfast or not
we will get ready to go to wild wild wet
those who dont want to go to wild wild wet can stay in the chalet/pasir ris beach/ pasir ris park/ shopping centre
then i think the check out time will be at 12
so we will take our things and then go to wild wild wet
we will keep our things in the lockers in wild wild wet
then for lunch we will be eating inside wild wild wet
then i want you guys to decide if u want to have dinner somewhere outside like maybe pizza hut or sthing

Hey g3,
Sad to say but escape theme park is closed on Tuesday. So, the next best thing to do...go to the beach!! Yeah, so we can go to the Pasir Ris beach. We can take bus 403 from the interchange to go to the beach. So for the whole of Tuesday, we can spend our day at the beack swimming, cycling etc. and we can even have a picnic or smthin. Then in the evening we go back to the chalet and start the BBQ. After the BBQ, those who can't stay over can go back home and come back the next day. On Wednesday, we gonna go to Wild Wild Wet!! Yeah so bring lots of cash :D
Oh yeah and 1 last thing, on tuesday rite, we can meet at the pasir ris mrt and then go to the chalet 1st b4 goin to the beach. Cos hemaa is goin early to the chalet to get the key and all tat stuff so we can meet at around 10 or do u guyz want to meet earlier??? Yeah so let me know then we can finalise the timing, kay

K, The class chalet is on 11th and 12th November. No more objections, if you're not free then make yourself free or else..................YOU'D MISS ALL THE FUN,TRUST ME.
Our vice-chair still havent book the chalet cause she needs the moneh before booking first so yeah wait till she gets the class fund k. So keep your fingers crossed that the chalet can still be booked.

wanted to post some notes for ya'll. [yea i know, im awesome.]
i dunno bout you guys, but i always get confused with all these real numbers, integers, etc etc.
so i thought i should list it out.
hope it would be of some help.

REAL NUMBERS: All Numbers!

WHOLE NUMBERS: 0,1,2,3,4 and so on. (no decimals, no negatives)

INTEGERS: Includes all positive and negative whole numbers, includes zero, does not include decimals.)

RATIONAL NUMBERS: all numbers in fraction form, e.g (a/b) -[the line should be in the middle, i know.] includes all integers. e.g (5 = 5/1 = fraction.)

PRIME NUMBERS: a whole number, bigger than one, has only 2 factors, 1 and itself.

COMPOSITE NUMBERS: a whole number, bigger than one, has more than 2 factors.

FACTOR TREE: a list of a composite number's prime numbers/factors.
e.g: 340
/ \

INDEX NOTATION: (a number with a small number on top. (squared) i can't show it on here. if you don't know, go to Maths 1A textbook pg 6.)

HCF: Highest Common Factor (The one where you divide until there are no more common factors between the numbers.)

LCM: Lowest Common Multiple (The one where you divide until all the numbers become 1)

Note: 9 is the SQUARE of 3. numbers whose square roots are whole numbers= perfect squares
(same thing is applied for cubes.)

HAHA. okay i know those notes are pretty useless, lol. but it helped me to remember, so yeah.

Hello g3ians!! Hemaa here. this is the format for the math paper. take note of the instructions!!

So, gd luck for the last exam!!! =))))

Hi all

I am going to let you know about the procedure of the Maths Paper. Basically you need to bring along your stationery and your calculator into your classroom before the exam.

Paper 1 will then be given out and you are to answer everything on the Question Booklet. This paper will last for 1 hour.

About 10 minutes before the end of Paper 1, foolscap papers and Paper 2 will be given to you. You may start your Paper 2 if you have already finished your Paper 1 then.

After 1 hour, Paper 1 will be collected.

Just in case you are wondering when marks will be deducted, it can happen in the following cases:
(a) No units - 1m
(b) > 3 Significant figures (if the question does not specify s.f and your answer happens to be more 4, 5 or more s.f. as it has to do with non-exact asnwers such as those involving the use of pie, then you need to round it off to 3 s.f.; if the answer is in degree and it is a decimal, make sure that you round it off to 0.1 degree) - 1m
(c) Division of 2 columns on foolscap papers (not allowed) - 1m
(d) Use of pencil (not allowed for writing; you can only use a pencil for drawing graphs, statistical diagrams and construction of geometry) - 1m
(e) Premature rounding off, meaning you round off your answers first when the questions ask you to EVALUATE. You will find your answers different because they are no longer accurate. This happens especially for questions involving four operations of real numbers with square root, square, cube root and cube - 1m

IN DEFENCE OF HEDGEHOGS

I am very fond of hedgehogs
Which makes me want to say,
That I am struck with wonder,

All I see are hedgehogs,

Now, hedgehogs are not clever,
No, hedgehogs are quite dim,

A common mistake:

Simply narrating incidents / events without linking them to the question

· Your essay must be relevant to what is asked in the question. If you are asked why you sympathize with a character in the story, do not smiply narrate the story. You must explain why each incident caused you to sympathize with the character.

How to avoid this common mistake:

a. In your introduction, include words or phrase[s] from the question so that you are reminded to be focused on what is asked. Indicate clearly how you wish to address the question.

b. The middle paragraphs – Each should be devoted to a point you want to make, supported by the relevant evidence. Where appropriate, use a word / phrase from the question so that you keep on track [not necessarily in every paragraph].

· Make sure you complete the paper on time.
· If you cannot finish the paper, move on to the next question first.
· Manage your time well.
· Do not complete the paper very quickly as it means that you have done very less for the paragraphs.

Here are some helpful notes for paragrah-writing for TEAQ. Edit them for your use - Don't just memorise them. Note that Bongo and Zebra are fictitious poems but the structure of a paragraph can be seen. Average word count for a 5-paragraph TEAQ essay is 150 words each. For 3 TEAQ paragraphs, a good 200 words per paragraph should get you to fill at least one side of a page.

1. PLOT-Questions may be given to assess your content knowledge.

àStudy the sequence of events and how the story develops rather than just memorise to narrate large parts of the poem(s).

àWhat is the main conflict? How is this developed?

àIdentify the events that are more tense, dramatic, interesting, sad or significant in any way, i.e. impactful.

àCreate web diagrams to look for connection.

2. CHARACTER-Questions can be set to assess your understanding of the characters and their ability to think and feel.

àStudy each character individually to know them well.

àABBRW=Appearance, Background, Behaviour, Relationship with others, Words, feelings and thoughts.

àStudy to see if the character is a major or minor character.

àDo they stay the same or change in the course of the text?

àIs the change a result of time, events or location?

àCompare and contrast individuals as well as sub-groups.

àTry writing 3 paragraphs for each character to explain the development and change that occurs in them, if any, using TEAQ format.

àSupport your answers with specific evidence/quotes from the text.

3. THEME-Question can be set to assess if you are aware of the main ideas in the text.

àStudy the events in the text and identify the main ideas or themes in the story.

4. SETTING/ATMOSPHERE/MOOD-Questions can be set to assess your understanding of factors in the background and/or atmosphere that influence the story.

àHow does the cultural, historical, geographical setting effect the changes in the story?

àWhat is the mood created for each setting?

àHow does the setting create emotive issues e.g. feelings in you as a reader?

5. VIEWPOINT-Questions can be set to assess your understanding of themes, character, plot, etc.

àCan be your viewpoint, the author/poet’s viewpoint or narrator/persona’s viewpoint.

àConsider the effect of the cultural, historical and social issues.

àEmpathise/Sympathise with the characters and study the different viewpoints.

àWhat are the overall viewpoints and message conveyed by the writer?

àDo web diagrams to show evidence form the text to illustrate these ideas.

àTry to learn good quotes to support these ideas.

6. STYLE-Questions can be set to assess your appreciation of the writer’s use of language(e.g. word choice/diction, literary devices-simile, metaphor, personification, imagery, alliteration, repetition, irony, humour, etc.)

Once you are born into a certain caste, you will be in the same caste for the rest of your life.

Kashatriyas = King = Warriors, Rulers

The ruling class : kings, priests, feudal shi(landlord)- land given to them by the kings

1027-221 BCE -Zhou Dynasty
1st class : Kings, priests, landlord
2nd class : Scholars
3rd class : Farmers
4th class : Craftsmen
5th class : Traders

221-205 BCE -Qin Dynasty
Reduced landlords power
Took away the power away from the landlords when they rebelled and greedy for more land.
Han Dynasty landlord were not given back their power

Class system in South East Asia
Ruling class : Sultan and his family
Trading and priestly class : Trade is the main source of money

Unlike the caste system in Indian, class system in SEA is flexible.
Unlike the class systmem in China, a village youth can become a great offical or king without taking exams.
Must have special ability, good luck or magice to get to a better class.

Women in SEA...
In ancient China, women were regarded the property of men.

System of government.

India, Chandragupta
Had a highly organized government because:
-Chandragupta had all the authority over all government matters.
-He had a large army to expand & control his empire.
-He also set up a war office.
-Believed in having a efficient system of justice.
-He would listen to his people's request even when he is having his daily massage.
-Improved the welfare of his people.
-Ordered irrigation systems to be maintained to ensure a steady supply of water for the farmers to grow their crops.

China, Qin Shi Huang
Feudalism in China:
-Feudal shi had to give tribute/gifts to the kings & in return, the kings would allow the feudal shi to rule their land.
-Feudal shi(s) made farmers work for them & in return they would protect the farmers.

Western Zhou Dynasty:
-Feudal shi respected and supported the king.

Eastern Zhou Dynasty:
-Feudal shi became greedy and wanted more land.
-Kings could not control them any longer.
-Fighting between the shi broke out, lasted for 232 years.

Period of Warring states:
-Northern China was broken up into several kingdoms
-Each kingdom had its own king.

Unitary system of government:
-Feudalism ended
-QSH defeated the shi to unify CHina & thus he became the king of the Qin dynasty.

Government under QSH:
-Each province had a military (in charge of army) and civilian (in charge of everyday matters) governor.
-An inspector would then watch over the two governors.
-QSH introduced laws throughout China.
-Standard measures & coins were introduced throughout the whole empire.
-Different forms of writing were abolished & a single script was introduced.
-Created a sense of unity amongst the people.
-QSH showed no mercy to those who broke his law, and they would be executed.

Mandate of heaven:
-Heaven would give blessing to a good ruler that ruled the people wisely & justly.
Selfish ruler = people suffering hardships
-Natural disasters (Floods) would be signs that the people had rights to overthrow the ruler.

SEA, parameswara
-Made melaka into an attractive port as it had a safe habour & was located along the straits of Melaka.
-Made friends with the Chinese emperor so that China would protect Melaka from enemy attacks.
-Married a Muslim princess & converted to Islam
-Rich Indian-muslims & arab traders supported Parameswara
-Shifted their trading headquaters to Melaka.

A civilisation is a sophisticated urban society that normally begins near a river for irrigation purposes, transport, or trade and the fertile soil around the river. In civilisations, people get food from agriculture.

It is a civilisation when:

There is a form of government.
Society was complex and there were different occupations.
Society had complex religious beliefs
Society had its own writing system.

Features of Indus Civilisation:

Government: Strict, near, organised, complex. (Roads= neat, different places for different events- great bath etc)

Occupations: Farmers, Priests, Traders and Craftsmen.

Complex belief: They have a religion. (Priests, great bath)

System of writing: Indus Script

Features of Shang Dynasty

Government: Ruled by kings

Occupations: Farmers, craftsmen, traders, priests, nobles, kings.

Complex belief: Believed in one supreme god, Shangdi.

System of writing: Chinese. :(

Features of SEA villages

Government: Ruled by kings

Religion: Almost every port/city had a religious building. Therefore they have religions.

Occupations: Sailors, fishermen, traders, craftsmen

Writing system: Jawi & Sanskrit

What helped sea villages become civilisations:

Rice- People in SEA are the first to grow rice. Rice can be traded.

Trade- Invention of boats so goods and travel from one village to another. Villages on coasts acted as small ports. Traders from other countries went to SEA to trade, turning it from village to kingdom.
